Day 3 - Hump Day! ha!

Day three is a stressful day! We have one class in the morning, then we go to the TRC (teaching resource center) where there are many classrooms made to look like a mini-living room. We go to the door, knock, and it is opened by an "investigator" (a person playing the role of an investigator which may or may not be really a member of the church.) You go in and act as if this is a real situation. You meet and get to know the person, and then you teach them, hopefully, the first lesson during a 45 minute span. Believe me, there wasn't one single set of senior missionaries who were NOT nervous, including us! Our experience turned out very well. Our investigator was a 40-yr-old lady & was fairly receptive. (not like some others- one actually slammed the door on the couple, one was an 82-yr old grandpa & his 14 yr old gr-daughter, one talked about reincarnation the whole time... so it could have been much worse! ha!) Roger & I did very well apparently and did a good job of sharing the teaching assignment. We actually got an appt. to return... ha! Oddly enough, we do have to do this again tomorrow. We'll practice following up and teaching lesson 2. By the end of the night we were pretty bushed again. But then the REALLY HARD work began. Our French tutoring was from 6-8pm. Roger, being way more advanced got his own tutor. I was in a class with 3 other sisters.

Left to Right- Sister Mahaffey, Sister Okleburg- going to Paris France -Center for Young Adults, Sister Burton - going to Burundi - Congo, Africa mission - Sister Johnson- single sister going to Paris France -CES, and our tutor, Sister Mindy Levitt - served her mission in New Caledonia, Figi Mission. We are using quite a bit of french - By friday, we will have a testimony meeting and each missionary will have to give their testimony in the language they are learning. Yikes!! Incredibly wonderful spirit there today. Today is the day the new young elders & sisters come. They are easily discerned because of the bright orange dot on their name tags. So, everyone is extra helpful and kind to everyone! A couple of Elders asked me to show them where the front desk was.. so I took them! (there's a deal... someone who has only been there 3 days is showing the new Elder around! ha!)
