Petite Ville Training

We helped the Cannons today to get ready for Petite Ville training. (since we're STILL at the mission home, we'd better earn our room and board!) This is training for the missionaries who are in small cities far away from the hub of the mission. Since they were expecting 26 missionaries - 24 elders and 2 sisters, we were given the assignment to prepare the basement. We blew up 22 aero beds, and made all of them & then tried to squeeze all of them into the space in the basement... as you can see it was wall-to-wall elders. (the sisters got to sleep upstairs in the bunkbeds!) It took us about 3 1/2 hours to get all this done! whew! The missionaries come in on Friday afternoon - meet for a short meeting at the church, then have dinner, then the assistants take them over to the metro and they do some metro-proselyting. Contacting people in the metro station or on the train is very different than how they tract in the small cities. So they get a very different perspective of life in the city. Then they come to the mission home & go to bed. The next morning we had breakfast at 8am and then they help clean up the basement of all the beds, because that is where we hold the training. Here they all are- all pressed & dressed- an army for the Lord!In the picture above, the blond elder in the middle is Elder Holbrook and his companion is to the left, Elder Garcia (who never smiles for pictures). They are the elders we work with. They are assigned to an area called Hawkesbury - an hour north of us - but work in Cornwall every other week.The elder 2nd from the right in the above picture is Elder Talbot. He is from the same ward as DeNiel & Kevin Husted in Cincinnati.They are a wonderful group of missionaries. We have been so impressed with meeting them. They work hard and are really strong missionaries. Sister Cannon did a cute training as Dr. Petite Ville and her prescription for the epidemic disease of RINSIDS - see on the board behind her.
One of the assistants is Elder Sybrowski. His father & mother also happened to be there. His father is in the first quorum of Seventy and so they both taught a little during the training. The other assistant is Elder Jacquier -from France - who's 25 or 26 & is serving at the same time as his other 2 brothers. So, all three are out at once. He was featured in a story in the Sept. Liahona magazine, but... we have discovered that the Liahona and the Ensign are not just different in language, but also do not always have all the same articles! (In the photo below- Elder Jacquier is the Elder kneeling all the way to the left & Elder Sybrowsky is just above him)It is wonderful to be able to work with this GREAT group of missionaries and to feel their incredible spirits every day! These are fantastic people who love the Lord, and love doing His work! We feel very blessed to be here.
