It is official !!

While these are old name tags... it won't be long until we have our own ! Yes, we received our mission call! We received it on Wed. June 1 - Misty's birthday! But, because we wanted all of our children & their families to watch us open it, we waited until Friday night- June 3.
Misty found this wonderful web site called Web Ex that allowed all six of us to be online at the same time - with audio and video! And since none of our children were actually at our home to watch, we invited some of our ward family to be there. Our bishop and his family (in the tie), Kraig Moll (red shirt), and some ward friends Jodee and Gary Matsuda (sitting on couch) - Barbara Veatch (Roger's sister) far right.
Our home teacher Lew & his wife Dorothy Edwards (she's sitting- he is up front), other home teacher in back- Gene Gibbons, and Grandma Mahaffey on the love seat. (Sheri Spencer, our friend who lived in Antioch years ago, but now lives in our ward was taking the pictures for me) Then, so that SOME people would KNOW that we hadn't already opened our call (you know who you are....) I used a letter opener to open it in front of everyone! Then Roger read the call to everyone... "Elder and Sister Mahaffey.... you are called to serve in the ..........Canada Montreal Mission. Your primary assignment is to labor with the Center for Young Adults. You will serve for a period of 18 months. You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Monday, August 8, 2011. " (which, coincidentally, is the birthdate of Roger's father who passed away 6 years ago.)Then, our good friend Sheri Spencer gave us our first CARE PACKAGE!!! Along with a photo of their family so we can have some decoration in our apartment ! ha! Thanks my friend! Please take note, all who read here... Elder & Sister Mahaffey will gratefully accept all care packages. And since we will be in Canada, there is a very good likelihood of them arriving totally entact! We are very excited, humbled, and more than a little nervous! But it's wonderful to know that because we will be on the Lord's errand, he will bless us and our family & friends who lovingly support us! We love you all !
